How Do You Define Success?

    Posted in BLOG, Business    |

Success is defined in many different ways, in fact it would be naive to think that success meant the same thing for everyone. But seriously...how do you define it?

SuccessIs it putting your feet up in some luxury resort? Is it having the new car in the driveway? For a long time I wanted success, I would talk with all sorts of people about how to obtain this mysterious thing, like somehow it was outside of my control... like there was some magic formula that I did not know about that would cause this thing success. When all it success really is, is a thought. You see the statement "I think, therefore I am" has never been more prevalent.

Many people spend their whole life searching for this elusive success when it was really theirs all along.

You must understand that success for some people is simply being able to get out of bed in the morning. A good thing to remember here when it comes to success is this... everyone is equal... just because someone seemingly has more of something that you does not make them anymore successful. In fact there are a lot of successful people out there that if you asked them they would dispute the success that they have.

The funny thing about success is this... you already have it. Yup... ok now when I look at that I suppose it's not really all that funny, I guess the funny part about it is that due to our daily routines, our past conditioning and the fact that we continually look outside ourselves for approval, for recognition, for acceptance causes us to doubt ourselves, to doubt our ability to make a difference. I truly believe that one of the most dis-empowering things that we can do is to watch the news on a daily basis... Come on we live in the 21st century for pete's sake! Have you not heard that the news will find you!!

This has been my experience if the news (that is published wherever in the world) has anything to do with me, it finds me I don't have to go looking for it... and you know what, I am really happy about that, it is almost like a filter... no it is a filter, it means that I don't waste my time and energy over the things that do not impact me, it means there is no guessing no wondering... it really does make life easier.

Now I am sure there are people out there that will claim that what I have said my be an arrogant or even ignorant stance to take... maybe... to them, that is their stuff... to me it is my truth and I am happy with it.

So what I was getting at is this, if people actually took the time to STOP taking the time to get involved in crap that really has nothing to do with them (you whats mentioned above here) and started to trust their own instinct and gut then they would realise that they are already successful and they always have been... sure somebody may be able to do something better than you, or you might not have a certain skill (the good thing about skill is you can learn it) however I can 99% guarantee you that they are 100% better at something than someone else they know... and if you are thinking right now that you are a bit like that.... CONGRATULATIONS you are successful now celebrate! Seriously. Understand that you are already a success and BE that NOW.

The world is truly yours ignite your passion and let the world see you.

Leveraging your Network to Generate Traffic

Posted in BLOG, BLOGS and BLOGGING, Business, Featured    |

Are you doing it? Can you honestly say that you 'help your fellow man' with his or her blog? Are you reciprocating? It's a little known fact (although that is slowly changing) that when you help someone you help yourself. There are a few people that have cottoned on to the fact that by syndicating Team Workyour blog with 100 or so others you can totally dominate a niche, it really doesn't take that long. The stupid thing is that people are lead to believe that they need to pay for this sort of thing, like it is outside of the realm of possibility for them to be able to do it themselves!

How utterly dis empowering and pathetic! There is power in syndication, and there are entrepreneurs that are getting fat of the fact that the masses can't organise themselves enough to talk to a few of their mates and say "Hey, why don't we all get together and follow each others blog and comment on and share every post to the world via the vast range of social media outlets available to us now?" Damn.... there is an idea and you know what? It might just bloody work!

Of course it works! That is why there are 'tribes' and 'syndicates' popping up everywhere, there is power in it... what totally shits me about the whole situation is there is one person in each organization now sits back, collects a check and calls themselves an expert because they had an idea... Don't get me wrong, I applaud the fact that they had the foresight get the organisation happening, but come on charging people 50 bucks and month and upwards so that they can promote your blogs? Really! In this day and age of web 2.0 there is no need to do that... take my good friend Natalie Louise for example, some great out of the box thinking on her part, she has approached a number of people who she respects and who she follows and who follow her and has created a library of sorts with some great information and can get anyone started with online marketing for FR*E great info and freely available. You don't even need to follow her blog! (But you should cause its a good one)

So where is all of this going? Well, it's simple really, Warren Buffet has a theory on becoming wealthy (and if you don't who Warren Buffet is... Google Him, I'm all about teaching to fish, not giving fish ;) ) he says its a bit like a snow ball, what you need is a really long hill and some really wet snow. Basically what he is saying is that is it might not happen in an instant (its a bit like my post about making money from home).

What do you think would happen if you had a friend or a colleague who had a blog (and lets face it, if you are in business of any sort these days you should have one) and you said to them... hey if I was to follow your blog, and make comments, would you do the same for me? Do you think they would? You are offering something, your time, and realistically it doesn't take much time to read a blog and leave a comment, you do realise this helps you too right? I mean when you leave a comment (and I am talking about a quality thought provoking comment) you will not only will people see that and follow the link you leave behind to your own blog (generating traffic) the search engines pick it up also, creating better SEO for yourself. So how does this help your friend, well it will actually engage others who are surfing to read the post and quite possibly comment themselves. You see nothing creates interest better than others talking about it... I think back to when I lived in Christchurch New Zealand, my parents were visiting and we were at one of the local malls, we were walking along and I said to my father, "How is that for some marketing? Look over there, that shop has all of its windows 'wrapped' up and no one can see in" There was a Que out the door of about 20 people (there were maybe 2-3 people in store) the shop had created such intrigue as to what was going on that people were flocking to see it! Just then my mother said "oh look, there must be something going on, we better go and have a look!" Which was when I turned to my father and said "case and point!"

The fact is, nothing creates interest faster than others interest in it... you see what I mean, its a psychological thing.

So back to our friends blog... of course when he does the same the same thing happens for him or her. It truly is win win. And best of all it cost younetwork nothing except an investment of your time... and long term can literally provide you with a steady passive income stream, and if that doesn't excite you, you better check and see if you have a pulse.

Right now imagine for a second that you did this with only 5-10 of your friends or colleagues and they all did the same, just like a syndicate now how is your blog looking? Great right? I tell you this is one of (if not the best) way of generating long term traffic and income streams for you and your syndicate. Pretty simple right?

So are you doing it? I can almost guarantee you are not. To make it work you have to all support each other... I was involved in something similar that I had started... There was never any official agreement that we would all do it, I was really relying on integrity... unfortunately it wasn't reciprocated, I was digging and tweeting away, and there was no love coming back my way.... So I stopped....

This can and DOES work..... my advice on the subject is this... Have an agreement with 5-10 others to begin with, help each other out, invest your time... it will pay off... Remember if you are holding up your end of the deal with BLOGS and comments, you are winning anyway, so hit it hard...

Well that is my little rant for the day... feel free to leave your comments here and I will surely reciprocate ;)   After all, that is what it is all about!

Hello from Sunny Byron Bay

    Posted in BLOG, General    |

It's funny how things work out right? It is almost two years since my wife and I were married here in Byron bay, which is obviously where I am writing this post from, great little cafe called 'Why Not?' We came here the day after our wedding for a breakfast for pretty much everyone who came!

As well as the great food this place has free wireless internet... which is starting to become more and more common (not like NZ where it is already EVERYWHERE). So here we are, Sarah told me that I was to come away to Byron so that I would unplug and get out of the office, and to be fair I have... (apart from this blog post)

So why am I posting... two fold really one to let you know I am still alive (cause it has been a few days ;) ) and the other to let you know that some of your biggest break throughs are going to come when you get a total break away from what you are doing... Sometimes you just don't see it becuase you are so invloved in what is your daily routine.

While I have been here I have had some amazing clarity presented... and as soon as I get back I will be acting on it, all I can say is that there are some very exciting things on the way and 2010 just keeps getting better and better.

Anyway this was just a short one to say I'm still here, oh and to let you know that this months 'Power Up Monthly' will be a few days late!!  ;)

 Hear from you all soon

A Quick Tip for SEO

Posted in BLOG, BLOGS and BLOGGING, Business    |

It frustrates the heck outta me!

Maybe it is my OCD coming to bare, yet I just find that I have to say something about this because there seem to be a lot of people (including seasoned marketers) that just don't get this or if they do they just don't care... and they SHOULD!

I want you to do something, I want you to look at the address bar right now... go on I will wait.

What did you see? Did you see something that looked like this http://AndrewHawkes.com/?=p432 ? or did you see http://AndrewHawkes.com/business/a-quick-tip-for-seo? OK its a rhetorical question because I know the answer I made the post right? Tell me though, which one looks better? Pretty simple right, the latter (the second one). As well as being more athletically pleasing it is also proven to give you better searchability within the search engines. I mean why would it not? With 'Pretty' permalinks as they are called you have another shot at utilising your key words, which is something you don't get with 'Ugly' permalinks, the former (the first one).

I'd like to think that if people knew about that they would do something about it... but then maybe they just don't know how. So here is a quick clip to show you how so that you can set this up on your blog and see the benefit of 'pretty' permalinks.

See... really simple aye? So now you know you can shoot off and change your in your BLOG or your wordpress site if you don't want to call it a BLOG. You will get better search results and your links will look HEAPS better (Heaps is Kiwi for Amazing!!)

Cheers

Is Making Money From Home Really Simple?

    Posted in BLOG, Business    |

So is it?

Make Money From HomeThere are literally 1000's of people telling you that making money from home is really simple... they would have you think that if you get involved with their program that all of your problems will be magically fixed... that by some freak of nature their program is different than everybody elses. While this may be true, it may well be different the same old variable remains, and that of course is you. Now I am not about to go off into a big lecture here as to responsibility etc... if you want to know more about that you can go and read this post to understand how I feel about that. No instead I want to share a little known secret with people (I assume it's little known as there are not that many successful people around, something like 3-5%). Are you ready for this it is a kicker! All of these overnight successes only become that way after investing hours and hours of time in something (and usually something they were passionate about).

In today's society people want stuff now. We live in a world of instant gratification. If we're hungry we go out and get a quick fix from 'Fat Macs' or Burger King, if we feel that we that we are a little over weight we can simply book in for a tummy tuck or what ever... the point I am making here is that practically everything is available to us in an instant... it almost takes the fun out of doing a lot of things.

So what has this got to do with making money from home or becoming an overnight success? Well it is simple really due to the fact the people are out there  chasing the dream, there are people on the other side of the coin exploiting that. Have you noticed that every other offer out there is more attractive than the last? This is for a reason, I have recently read a great post on understanding what motivates your customer written by Shannon Lavenia (a huge success in the home business world) and what she says is so true... by reading that post you will understand what I am saying here even more. Now back to the overnight successes, ask any successful person and they will tell you that even though seemingly the struck gold overnight, it was a journey to get there. Granted some people get there faster than others, there is a learning curve that one must go through to get there. Don't get me wrong, I believe and know to be true that anyone can have success, and success beyond imagination, all I am saying is that it is not necessarily instant. Chris Howard has a great presentation of this is in his Best Seller 'Instant Wealth Wake Up Rich' . Success is something that you must work at... luckily it does leave clues and if you are driven enough to look for them then you can gain enormous momentum and become an overnight success and make money from home or anywhere for that matter.

So recently I had an epiphany, I was thinking about a conversation I had with a great friend and mentor of mine whom is known as the 'God Zila' of personal growth and it was about when being in flow that things are effortless (and they really are)  the thought came as I was making a post on Facebook about just that, being in flow. As on that day I felt totally and utterly in flow. The thought was this

'what am I doing that caused me to feel as though I was totally in flow?'

This is the best question that I could have asked myself. It allowed me to see what exactly it was that I was doing that gave me such joy and happiness and total blissful ease of success. And that ladies and gents is the key to making money from home when you know what is is that makes you happy about what you are doing, to the point where your loved ones have to ask you to leave your office because you are having so much fun doing what you are doing, then it will truly be simple to make money from home. Until that time then any one of the opportunities you see will be fine, reason being that there is a extremely good chance that you will fail in all of them.

So what was it that caused me to be in flow? Simple.... being of service providing relevant information that actually helps people (at no cost) and creating opportunity for others... it really is as simple asMaking Money is Simple

that. By understanding this I am empowered to work from my strengths have a tonne of fun and enjoy what ever life has to give me (or I can just go out and grab it).

The irony of all of this is that it has taken me the better part of four years to realise this, so now it would seem that I have myself become an overnight success.

So yes, making money from home is simple... however as far as I can see... it has nothing to do with what opportunity you choose to partake in. Its more about loving what you are doing... Do you love what you do?
